What it is
Beta-alanine is an amino acid the body uses to build carnosine, a compound stored in muscle and brain tissue that acts as a buffer and antioxidant.
What it does in Memoclear
Carnosine helps tissue cope with acid build-up and oxidative stress. Beta-alanine is the limiting ingredient for making it, so supplying more is the route to more carnosine. In Memoclear it is a supporting ingredient: 40 mg is far below the 3 to 6 g used in sports research, so treat it as a helper rather than the reason to buy.
Where it comes from in food
Beef, pork, chicken and fish, where it exists inside carnosine.
What the research says
Beta-alanine is one of the most studied sports supplements, where gram doses raise muscle carnosine over weeks. Brain research is early: animal work and a few small human studies suggest a role in stress resilience. The evidence for cognition at 40 mg is not there yet, and we say so.
Who should be careful
At sports doses beta-alanine causes harmless skin tingling; at 40 mg that is unlikely. People with kidney problems should check before taking any amino acid supplement.
Where it sits in the Memoclear formula
Beta-Alanine works alongside L-Arginine (base), L-Arginine AKG 2:1 Extract, L-Citrulline HCl, L-Citrulline Malate, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Calcium (as calcium carbonate). Together the seven cover nitric oxide, cell energy and nerve signalling in one daily capsule.
